Dear Colleagues,

The beginning of the year 2020 coincided with endemic COVID-19 in Iran as well as most parts of the world.

In a short time  this  pandemic causing marked disturbance in social, economical, educational, health and medical conditions all around the globe.

Iranian society of ophthalmology (IrSO) cancelled all scheduled meetings due to this unpredicted disaster since April 2020. At the same time “Virtual” meetings started in Iran as “Webinars” and very soon became as a standard way of communication and education between Iranian ophthalmologists and their colleagues in other parts of the world.

This year IrSO decided to hold 30th Annual International Congress as “virtual”. Many international ophthalmologists have participated as speakers or delegates during past meetings of IrSO. This year the number of international speakers has increased more than 5-folds. Herein, we appreciate their collaboration and contribution to our prestigious meeting.

We hope to host all these distinguished scientists “in-person” in the near future; so they can enjoy Iranian hospitality as well as our magnificent and historic places in our country.

Thirtieth IrSO meeting will be held in two parts containing subspecialty as well as general ophthalmology topics. More than 20 webinars are planned in different fields of ophthalmology.

I hope participation of Iranian as well as international ophthalmologists in this meeting boosts the knowledge and practice in modern ophthalmology.

Farid Karimian, MD
Scientific Director of the 30th Annual Congress of IrSO
